Roxanne Ostlund, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Roxie is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Regent University in 2008. She provides individual, family, marriage, and group therapy to adults and teens ages 16+. Some of Roxie’s specialties are in the treatment of PTSD/trauma, couple related issues, recovering from pathological love relationships, childhood wounds and family of origin issues, sexuality and intimacy issues, anxiety, depression, young adult transitions, low self-esteem, attachment wounds, grief and loss, and issues of spirituality. Her treatment approach focuses on overall well-being of the body, mind and spirit. She uses a variety of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), family systems models, insight therapies, as well as interpersonal and solution-focused models. For those interested in incorporating faith into therapy, she also uses Christian principles to guide therapy in the client’s healing journey. Roxie delights in providing compassion and empathy in a safe, nonjudgmental space as people find hope and healing, direction and purpose, gain clarity and insight, and find new ways of thinking and behaving in relationship with themselves and others.

Morgan Sutton, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Morgan has directed her clinical experience towards working with adolescents, adults, couples and families for over 20 years. Using a psychodynamic approach with a variety of strategies, Morgan helps clients maximize self-understanding, consciousness awareness, and relationship dynamics to promote the healing of personal trauma, strengthening of relationships, and to encourage lasting change. Morgan specializes in treating adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma (both current and a history of), self esteem and stress management, grief and loss, along with toxic and problematic relationships. Morgan also specializes in working with non-traditional families.

Erin Upham, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Erin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who focuses her clinical attention on working with children, adolescents, teenagers, and young adults (ages 5–24). She earned her Master’s in Social Work from Monmouth University in 2014 and has spent over a decade supporting youth and families across school, home, and outpatient settings. Erin cultivates a positive, safe, and engaging environment to support her clients with achieving identified treatment goals and where clients can build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. Erin utilizes an array of therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational interviewing, amongst others. She incorporates play therapy techniques into her sessions when working with children to optimize participation and progress towards treatment goals. Some of her specalities include treating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, suicidal ideation and self-harm, adjustment challenges, stress management, behavioral issues, relationship issues, strengthening emotional regulation skills, building effective communication skills and more. Believing that healing happens in connection, Erin takes a collaborative approach and involves parents and families when appropriate — ensuring that caregivers understand and support the therapeutic process to help reinforce progress outside of session. Erin makes it a priority that families are looped into the work happening in session so the growth continues beyond the therapy room.

Buffie Kulton, Ed.S.
Licensed School Psychologist
As a Licensed School Psychologist in Virginia, Buffie's primary focus is psychological and educational assessment and evaluation of children and adolescents. She also serves therapy clients from age 16 and older. Buffie has a bachelor's degree from James Madison University, a master's degree in School Psychology and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from Fort Hayes University. In addition, she is a lifelong educator with experience as both a teacher and a school psychologist in the public school setting. This unique background allows Buffie the opportunity to understand children and adults from multiple perspectives. During both therapy and evaluation sessions, Buffie provides a relaxed, empathetic and safe environment to address client and parent concerns related to the areas of Specific Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Depression, Emotional Disability and Developmental Delay and trauma.

Elizabeth Mistretta
Resident in Counseling
Elizabeth is a Resident in Counseling working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. She brings 17 years of experience as an educator to her counseling work and approaches therapy from a person-centered perspective, emphasizing empathy, respect, and genuine care for each client. Elizabeth believes in creating a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. She works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of areas including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and parenting support.

Heidi Buckner, Ed.S.
Licensed School Psychologist
Heidi is a Licensed School Psychologist with a wide variety of experience in psychological assessment and treatment of children and adolescents. She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Radford University, and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in School Psychology from Radford University. She is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) with over twenty-five years of experience. During her years working within the public school system and privately, Heidi has gained valuable experience working with children and adolescents. She has extensive experience completing both psychological and educational evaluations and is knowledgeable of Section 504 and special education law. Her goal is to evaluate client and parent concerns to provide a better understanding of the individual. She also has many years of experience of providing therapy to children and adolescents. She utilizes motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy approaches in her work with both children and adolescents. Heidi specializes in treating anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, stress management, and executive functioning. Heidi’s services at Psychotherapy Associates of Winchester include both therapy and psychological/educational assessments for children through adolescents aged 6 through 18.

Emily Johanson
Resident in Counseling
Emily is a Resident in Counseling working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Emily works primarily with adults, offering a Christian, person-centered, and holistic approach that integrates mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Drawing from psychodynamic and trauma-informed perspectives, she helps clients understand how emotions and experiences impact the body and mind. Her areas of focus include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, addiction, trauma, spiritual struggles, self-worth, eating disorders, family conflict, and sexual and relational concerns. Emily also incorporates mindfulness-based practices to support healing and personal growth. She is passionate about creating a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their stories, find hope, and move toward greater wholeness.

Becki Fitzwater
Licensed Professional Counselor
Rebecca “Becki” Fitzwater is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and West Virginia. Becki received her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2016 and went on to attain licensure in Virginia in 2020. Becki specializes in helping adults with anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Her approach to therapy focuses on establishing trust, fostering insight, and collaborating on a plan for change. With every client, Becki’s ultimate goal is that clients feel respected, heard, and supported to make change in their lives. When people feel understood and supported, they find the strength to make progress toward their goals. To foster this progress, Becki uses an eclectic mix of strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and person-centered approaches. For those interested in faith-based counseling, Becki also incorporates Christian principles in therapy to enrich the healing process. She has a passion for hearing people’s stories and helping clients move toward their goals in life.

Lisa is the office manager for Psychotherapy Associates. She keeps us all straight! She has worked in the medical field for over 30 years in various positions with certifications earned in medical transcription, terminology and insurance billing and coding.
